China-Russia ties— growing on new horizon

China and Russia in a new era have marked June as the second anniversary of a comprehensive strategic partnership aimed at upgrading the relations between them.

Russia-China relations have reached an unprecedentedly high level and the two sides have an extensive shared interest, Russian President Vladimir Putin said. The Russian president in the video link has expressed his desire to enhance cooperation with China in more areas. This increased cooperation is likely to be a great concern for the capitalist block.

China-Russia ties— growing on a new horizon.   Communication between the two presidents

The two heads Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin met five times in 2019 and had detailed discussions and worked out plans for trade, energy, and comprehensive cooperation. President Xi has described Russian President Vladimir Putin as his "best friend" during a three-day state visit to Russia.

Even in 2020, despite the pandemic, the two leaders continued their conversations mainly via phone calls and moved ahead as per plans.

China-Russia ties— growing on new a horizon.  China-Russia trade cooperation

Just browse the market and products and after a few clicks and placing the order, china is right on the Russian border to receive the consignment, no doubt a great initiative for favorable trade between the two countries.

There has been a great surge in e-commerce cross-border business in 2020, with the onset of a pandemic,  being large-scale cross-border orders. Tmall, a Chinese e-commerce platform, is one such which saw a surge in its business. The business saw more than 130 chartered flights carried and more than 16 million consignments were shipped from China to Russia.

The bilateral economic and trade relations between the two countries have reached a new horizon with the booing of Cross-border e-commerce trade between China and Russia.

If we see the available data of trade between the two countries, we find that China has got 92 percent of consignments from and the spending on these goods accounted for 54 percent of the total e-commerce spending of the country.

Despite the grave challenging impact of the pandemic corona, the overall bilateral trade between the two countries stood above $100 billion,  in 2020, which is remarkable and worrisome for the countries who are seeing these relations as threatening and new alliances forming.

In 2020, Russia exported agricultural produce worth $4.09 billion, up 13.7 percent year on year.

When business and trade improved after the impact of corona in the last quarter of 2020, imports of oil, gas and iron in bulk increased so significantly that its data showed china's increased business activities which require these commodities.

Russia remained a big importer of electromechanical devices from china and china's exports in this sector got a rocketing increase in 2020.

In the first quarter of 2021, as the bilateral trade of the two countries gradually recovered from the pandemic, the total value of bilateral trade reached $28 billion—a 12-percent growth from Q1 2019, the pre-pandemic era, according to the Federal Customs Service of Russia.

Bilateral trade volume exceeded $40 billion in the first four months, up by 19.8 percent year on year and on track to a record high for the whole year, he added.

China-Russia ties— growing on a new horizon.    China-Russia military cooperation

The Military relations between the two also emerged strongly as they concluded a joint military exercise recently. Thus this is an important segment of strategic cooperation between China and Russia.

The China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era is a model of new international relations featuring mutual respect, equity, and justice as well as a win-win cooperation.

Completely different from the military alliances between some other countries, China and Russia uphold a principle of non-alliance and non-confrontation that targets no third party, it noted.

China participates in drills and army sports events with Russia to deepen practical cooperation in military training between the two militaries. China has participated in the International Army Games for seven consecutive years and hosted them for three years.

To enhance the capacity of multinational forces to jointly respond to security threats and safeguard regional peace and stability, China participated in drills including "Peace Mission" and "Joint Sea" regularly.

In 2019, China and Russia held a joint aerial patrol for the first time, and the second time by the end of 2020.

In short, this increased cooperation between the two countries must not be construed as an alliance against any country rather it's a partnership with mutual business and economic uplift with respect for sovereignty and integrity coupled with fair play.
