The United States has a complex and evolving relationship
with both India and Pakistan. Historically, the America. has had closer ties with
Pakistan due to its strategic importance during the Cold War and as an ally in
the fight against terrorism. However, in recent years, the U.S. has shifted its
focus towards India, viewing it as a potential counterweight to China's growing
influence in the region and a key market for American goods and services.
There are several reasons why the U.S. has strengthened its
relationship with India in recent years. First, India is the world's largest
democracy and a secular country, which aligns with American values and
principles. Second, India has a rapidly growing economy and a large middle
class, making it an attractive market for American businesses. Third, India's
military capabilities and strategic location make it a valuable partner in
maintaining regional stability and security.
Additionally, the U.S. has expressed concerns about the
human rights situation in Pakistan and its Support for certain extremist groups
in the region, which has led to a decrease in trust and support.
Strangely enough the human rights violations, atrocities, barbaric treatment of minorities especially kashmir muslims, abrogation of law there, butchering all such acts are deliberately ignored or overlooked by world community and america and its allies because of the strategic and hegemonic designs in the region to challenge china's supremacy.
It's also worth noting that the U.S. has tried to maintain
good relations with both India and Pakistan, as both nations are important
players in the region and have their own strategic importance. The U.S. has
provided economic and military aid to both countries and has encouraged them to
resolve their disputes peacefully but obviously tilt has always been in favour of India despite the fact that India diplomatically was once in Soviet Union's strong ally .The military and diplomatic support from both the super powers during the era of cold war caused to creat imbalances between India and Pakistan.
In recent years, pakistan fought a long battle against terrorism inflicting lot of damages to property and life. It was a war that was drawn after 9/11 twin tower terrorist attack.
Though the U.S. has also been engaging with Pakistan to support its efforts in the fight against terrorism and to promote stability in the region but later after the exit of foreign troops from afghanistan, it changed a lot for Pakistan and regional strategic countries.
