The dreams of India's regional supremacy are likely to be fulfilled as Joe Biden administration is poised to sign a deal that would allow General Electric Co. to manufacture jet engines for Indian military aircraft in India.
An agreement finalizing joint production of the engines is expected to be signed and announced by the time Joe Biden becomes secretary of state on June 22, three people briefed on the decision told Reuters. Azam will host Narendra Modi for his official visit. The White House said in January that it had received a request to jointly develop the engine in India, but declined to comment on the news.
The question is why America have always been so kind to India while India through its policies have benefited from all camps once they were getting every kind of defence and military support despite being active Non aligned member for decades and now getting everything from america to act as regional power countering china on the behest of America.
In the same context, Washington has been working to deepen ties with India and sees deeper military-to-military and technology ties with the South Asian country as a key response to China's dominance in the region. India is the world's largest arms importer and depends on Russia for almost half of its military supplies. It has bought fighter jets, tanks, nuclear submarines and an aircraft carrier from Russia over the decades.
The regional players like China, Pakistan and other small states having some kind of regional disputes, have expressed concern that it would cause to create imbalance, and promote armament race to gain regional supremacy.
