Apple is investing heavily in the development of its AI capabilities, with multiple teams dedicated to various artificial intelligence projects. For instance, the 'conversational AI' unit, also known as "Foundational Models," is comprised of a highly skilled team of 16 engineers, some of whom were previously employed by Google. This unit is overseen by John Giannandrea, who joined Apple in 2018 with the goal of enhancing the performance of 'Siri', the widely known digital voice assistant featured in most iOS devices.
According to reports from 'The Information', Apple also has other teams working on AI, including a Visual Intelligence unit focused on image generation models, and a group dedicated to researching and developing 'multimodal AI', capable of recognizing and producing images and videos.
These AI initiatives align with Apple's products, with plans for an AI chatbot that will be integrated into AppleCare for customer interactions. This demonstrates Apple's commitment to leveraging AI across various applications.
