Saudi woman shops again on horseback

Saudi Arabian equestrian Shaad Al Shamari, who caused controversy by riding a horse in a pharmacy,  is back on horseback and in the spotlight again. A new video shows her in a clothing store, this time apparently as part of an advertising campaign. Wearing an elaborately decorated dress, she walks beside a horse in a clothing supermarket in Sabiya, Jazan province, promoting an affordable range for men, women and children.

 Last week, the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Health announced it would take legal action against a pharmacy after it released a promotional video showing an influencer riding a horse in its store. The ministry stressed the importance of professionalism in the health sector and warned that violations would not be tolerated.  The controversy began when a video went viral of a man filming Shaad riding a horse and leisurely strolling through a pharmacy, browsing the shelves and picking up products. The footage sparked a social media debate about ethical marketing practices in the healthcare industry.

 The young jockey, nicknamed “Saudi Equestrian Shaad,” is one of Saudi Arabia’s best-known female jockeys. Praised for her skill and confidence, she has gained a large following on social media, where she regularly shares videos showcasing her talents. Many fans see her as a role model for Saudi women who are breaking down barriers in a traditionally male-dominated field. She is also credited with promoting equestrian sports in the Kingdom and inspiring others to take up the sport.
